About Us

My name is Nick Tassoni, I like to think of myself as an avid outdoorsman. I have lived in northern Illinois all my life and do a great majority of hunting and fishing here. I have to credit much of my father’s influence for my passion of the outdoors. He, as well as his dad grew up in the area and took advantage of every opportunity they had to chase the game and fish that reside here. I try to stay involved in every aspect of hunting and fishing but I tend to aim  focus on Bowhunting and targeting walleye in the spring and fall. However I wear many different hats when it comes to the sport. I’ve tried my hand at taxidermy and fur handling. I make an effort to run a small trap line when time allows and recently became interested in raising game birds.

In March of 2021 I discovered that I had stage 2B testicular cancer. This shook my world as I had never so much as broken a bone growing up. I was swiftly directed to a rigorous 12 week course of chemotherapy. It didn’t stop there when the cancer had made its way into my lymph nodes and parts of my muscle. I underwent a massive surgery to remove the tumors and lymph nodes in January of 2022. This story isn’t intended to be a pity party for me, I’m far past that. What lingered in the back of my mind throughout that time was "am I going to get through this to continue to do what I love?'' well I’m still here. Another thing that came to mind during that time was the though that I hadn’t documented the time I had spent in the outdoors or the things I have learned. That’s what this website is for. To teach, share, learn, and grow with me in every aspect of the outdoors. Take more pictures. Take more walks in the woods. Interest the next generation in nature. I hope that something here inspires or teaches you to become more versed in god’s creation.
